The Jeddah Cornice

This is one of the most beautiful places in Jeddah. It is a resort area that is located 30 kilometres away from the main city and is precisely located along the famous Red Sea. It has a long coastal road, a lot of recreational areas and huge civic sculptures that have a major eye for tourist attraction. You can either walk by the sea or just sit by the coffee shop and enjoy the beauty during the sunset. You can also choose to spend the whole day here as it has a lot of activities to keep you entertained. Weekends and vacation seasons are heavily crowded and thus, it is best suggested that you plan your day accordingly in advance.

Floating Mosque

The Floating Mosque is located quite near to the Jeddah Cornice and is considered to be a beautiful place to visit. It is also known as the floating Rehma Mosque that is famous for the way it is built. It becomes even more enchanting in the evening, with all the lightings that come up. A lot of pilgrims come to this place for specific rituals related to the religion, but apart from that, it is quite a famous tourist attraction as well.

The unsupported Flagpole

Located at the King Abdullah Square Road, this is a must visit place in Jeddah. It is known to be the world’s tallest flagpole since the year 2014. The flag of Saudi Arabia is constantly unfurled on this flagpole and it was inaugurated in September 2014 on the National Day of Saudi Arabia. The flagpole is quite tall, almost up to 170 meters, and is 570 kilogrammes heavy in weight. It does not have any support and that is the speciality of this flag.

The Globe Roundabout

This Global Roundabout is a major tourist attraction and is always on the list of important landmarks in the city of Jeddah. It is located at the main junction of King’s road – an alternative road that leads to the Jeddah airport. This globe roundabout is made of steel and glass and thus is very attractive. During the night time, the globe is well lit and provides a spectacular view from all 360 degrees. This globe was designed by a famous Spanish Architect, Julio Lafuente.

King’s fountain

The King’s fountain is located on the west coast of Jeddah and is visible from anywhere, all thanks to the beautiful design and structure. It was donated to the city by the King of Jeddah – King Fahd and hence it was named such. It was actually constructed in between 1980 and 1983, but it was launched only in 1985. The fountain has its water spreads to about 260 meters in all directions and as per sources it is the world’s tallest fountain. The fountain gets its water from the famous Red Sea in Jeddah. It has about 500 spot lights above the fountain, all of them adding to the beauty and lightings of the fountain during night time.

Makah Gate

The Makkah Gate is one of the oldest landmarks in the city. It is also known as the Quran Gate and is located at the Jeddah Makkah Highway, at the Makkah Mukkarram road. The gate is worth the visit as it is beautifully built in the old eras of Saudi Arabia. It was designed by an Egyptian architect – Samir Elabd, in the year 1979. It is reported that this Gate marks the entrance to the holy city, Makkah which is also known as the birth place of Prophet Muhammad. The structure is beautifully built – it is an elegant representation of the Quran that seems to rest peacefully on a book stand.
